I know, I know... my headline is incorrent... gramatically speaking. But "C" doesn't rhyme with "Us" so I went with "We" instead. Make sense?

Anyway, I got an email from a cyber-pal of mine, "M."

I don't actually know "M" in the normal real-life sense, i.e., we've never met in person. And I don't know him in the biblical sense cuz, you know, I ain't gay and neither is he. But I've cyber-known "M" for a fair number of years. And in all that time I've found him to be intelligent, informed, and often quite humorous.

So "M" wrote in--actually, he copied me in an email he wrote to Crickett, the Porn Star Princess. The email is about this "Does Tianna Lynn Have Hep C or Not" thing. And since Cricket has now somehow injected herself into the story in, what kinda looks like to me, a shameless act of self promotion (which, by the way, I don't have a freakin' problem with cuz I'm a big... BIG fan of shamelessly self-promoting one's self.) And also since Chris and Alana Evans have injected themselves into the story in, what looks again like, another shameless act of self-promotion by way of their KSEX radio show (which, lemme say again, I don't have a problem with... in fact, I admire it.) Anyway, I guess "M" decided to share some words of wisdom with everyone regarding this matter and, more importantly, regarding some facts about Hep C.

"M" writes: Hey Crickett! Hope you take a fair and unbiased approach to the discussion that's supposed to take place next week with Mitch and Tianna Lynn....I will not attend because I think Alana and Chris Evans over-simplify and say shit they shouldn't say.

Here's some salient facts regarding Hep C:

There are several tests which can determine the presence of Hep C.

From the CDC: "A single positive PCR test indicates infection with HCV. A single negative test does not prove that a person is not infected. Virus may be present in the blood and just not found by PCR. Also, a person infected in the past who has recovered may have a negative test. When hepatitis C is suspected and PCR is negative, PCR should be repeated. "

Can Hep C be spread through sexual contact?

From the CDC: "Yes, but this does not occur very often."

Can Hep C be spread through oral sex?

From the CDC: "There is no evidence that HCV has been spread by oral sex. "

Obviously, the CDC suggests the use of condoms with respect to prevention. Hepatitus C is spread by "blood to blood" contact, consequentially it is very different from HIV.

For that reason, it should be treated very differently than one would treat HIV. In the case of Tianna, she should certainly be limited to scenes where condoms are used. Furthermore, talent should be given the option of working with Hep C performers or declining to perform; AIM should begin testing for Hep B and C if they are not doing so already.

Of greater importance to the industry is the fact that no significant changes have taken place since the recent HIV infections. We all know now that the recent outbreak was caused by an AIM-tested performer who worked with non-AIM tested performers outside the United States. Since that time, the adult industry has taken absolutely no significant precautions to protect the talent and general public from this type of promiscuity.

The leaders of the adult industry production companies should be held legally accountable for future outbreaks of HIV in the industry, since they have not changed the modus operandi with respect to this risk scenario. They have a fiduciary responsibility to take reasonable precautions to protect the people they employ, regardless if they are regular employees or subcontractors.

As we both know, Lisa Sparxxx recently did a gangbang in Poland - nothing I have heard indicated that the male talent employed were AIM-tested. Very soon, Ariana Jollee will do a 50 guy creampie in Prague - it is reasonable to assume that these performers will not be tested either.

To prevent future outbreaks of HIV, the industry must begin to quarantine talent members for sixty days after performing outside the US, as well as those who perform with non-AIM tested employees. If the industry does not regulate itself, then a future fiasco will result in mandatory regulation by either the Federal Goverment or the State of California. Now is the time for the industry to make changes or "be changed."
