VULTUROUS AGENCIES? :: Simply Jimmy D :: Breakin' News or Breakin' Balls: It's all the same to me!

jimmyd _writes "I'm reading this stuff on AdultFYI about a conversation Gene Ross had with Bill Margold regarding Margold's performance in "Goddaughter 5." It's interesting reading, especially since the reported conversation starts going all over the map--as Bill Margold is prone to doing--and it includes all kinds of stuff that only seems indirectly and remotely connected to "Goddaughter 5" and Margold's role in the flick, but covers a lot of (insider) porn ground.

At one point, Margold talks about watching Monday Night Football at Jim South's World Modeling Agency with Jim South. According to Margold, the game was a good one and it was a good thing that it was because South needs a morale booster because, well, I'll quote Bill and you'll understand why:

"South needs this kind of morale booster because things aren't going well over there because of the inroads of every vulturous agency. They're ripping him apart."

Now I like Bill and this ain't meant to dis or slam him. And I also like Jim South and it ain't meant to dis or slam him either. And I fully understand that Bill and Jim have a long-term friendship with each other and that Bill's office is in Jim's building and all that kind of stuff, but to accuse other adult modeling agencies of being "vulturous" simply because they've competed with--and seized a share of--what was once the nearly sole-domain of World Modeling, i.e., representing adult actresses to the jizz biz, is neither fair nor accurate. It may be sincere and it may be well-intentioned considering Bill's friendship with Jim, but it ain't exactly what has happened in the world of adult model representation.

Simply put, the adult industry has grown so much larger in recent years, in fact, it's grown too large for one agency (okay, two if you count Reb's company) to meet the needs of producers. And so, many more agents/managers have stepped in to meet those needs. It's a big part of what a free-enterprise economy is all about: supply and demand. And because new people have decided to compete in that particular part of the marketplace does not make them vultures or vulturous.

Okay, I've said my piece on this. That's why I maintain this site... cuz I got stuff to say. And because when I want to say something it's helpful to have a place to go to say it.
