Ross writes:

Particularly amusing is Kernes' comments at the end- "And that's the true history, subject to my not- always-entirely-accurate memory, of how "gonzo" came into porn." Not entirely- accurate-memory pretty much sums up this disgraceful grasp for credit because I was the one who threw the term gonzo into AVN's classification list. My comment to Kernes at the time was, you ought to appreciate this, being a Hunter S. Thompson fan. The gonzo classification was prompted specifically by Ona Z's Radical Affairs, true enough. Kernes' credit for authorship is his own invention."
Mark Kernes returns Gene's salvo with the following:

Sorry, not accurate. "Gonzo" is mine; Ross was no vocal fan of Hunter Thompson in those days, and in any case, would never have been creative enough to think of using "gonzo" as a porn term. And besides, Ona Z had NOTHING to do with Moonlight's Radical Affairs. Just ask Mark Stone, head of the company... like I just did, for confirmation.
