There's this pizza and sub joint I go to sometimes. It's just a few blocks from the office. It's called "PIzza Ola," and it's in this little strip-mall on the southeast corner of Lassen and Topanga Cyn., sort of behind the Del Taco. Both the office and the pizza place are in Chatsworth, California. If you're unfamiliar with the corner of Lassen and Topanga, you also might not know that Chatsworth is home to most of the world's porn manufacturers, as well as a large number of other adult business like distributors, publishers, duplicators, replicators, printers and more. Now you know.

It's estimated that the jizz bizz is the single, largest industry in the West San Fernando Valley; more specifically (and generally), Chatsworth, California.

When I go to "Pizza Ola," they always have copies of the latest edition of the "Chatsworth Business and Community News." It's a free, monthly rag published by the Chatsworth Chamber of Commerce (COC). I always pick it up and thumb through it while waiting for my regular sub sandwich usually prepared by the joint's owner-- this very nice Greek lady. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's an Italian joint and she's Greek. But Greece and Italy are right next to each other, only separated by a bit of water, so I'll let it slide and not be an Italian-cuisine purist. Besides, the lady's real nice and she makes a mean sandwich.

Back to the paper-- Never, and I stress NEVER, have I ever seen a single word written about the BIGGEST chunk of commerce existing in this little West Valley burg, i.e., porn commerce. But that's ok. I guess if I were them I'd rather pretend the various and sordid variety of smut makers, peddlers, and others weren't here, right in my own backyard.

Today I was thumbing through the December, 2002, edition of the paper. On page 3 there's a "Message From the President of the Chamber." He's a guy name of Allen Glazer. I have no idea what Allen does besides serving the COC and writing messages. His photo is printed there and he looks like an ok guy.

I'm only telling you this because Allen's message kind of struck me funny. You see, unintentionally, Allen wrote some things that certainly have one meaning to him and the Chamber, but have another meaning to a whole lot of people who inhabit the unmentionable portion of Chatsworth's business society, i.e., the pornographers.

Here's a snippet of what Allen wrote: "We all know it's going to take hard work and dedication to get those A's and we are all ready and up for the task."

Allen you don't know how right you are. It certainly does take "...hard work and dedication to get those A's." Lately, our business seems to be built on A's. And since we're all about making money here in the jizz bizz, we can only continue to hope "...we are all ready and UP for the task."

Allen summed up his message by saying, "We look forward to 2003 and know we will be getting straight A's."

Well, maybe not all of us, Allen. Some of us leave getting straight A's to the people at Anabolic, Red Light, and anyone Skeeter Kerkove works for.

Anyway, I thought it was kind of funny.
