WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

Here's what I'm hearing-- Dane Productions, quite possibly the premiere adult manufacturer specializing in young girl lines, has exploded from within with it's two principals dissolving their relationship.
Dane's lines include: Nineteen College Girls, Hooker Illustrated, University Coeds, Runaways, Vigin Stories, Panty World, Oral Exams, Brats, and more.
Partners Ed Cohen and Don Marque have accumulated approximately 275 titles in the Dane library. Cohen, who heads the administrative arm of the company, and Marque, the production chief, have fallen out over--yep, you guessed it--money.
Somehow, someway, even with nearly 275 titles in the library and a 2-per-month cable deal, this small company manages to make no money! And they operate lean--I know, I've shot camera for Don Marque numerous times. Few directors net as much content out of a single production day as Marque does--and without sacrificing quality. All of the shows I've worked on were shot on BetaCam-- and my back is permanently distorted from humping that heavy beast around for 12 to 14 hours a day! But that's ok! Marque regularly complments me on being a "tough old goat." And you know what? That's all I do this for--the recognition, even if I am being recognized as a "tough old goat." Besides, maybe The Porn Bard will pen an ode to your's truly: a tough old porn goat!
In my opinion--and like I've said many times before, "what the fuck do I know?"-- someone would have to work pretty fucking hard to not make any money with all that going for you.
From what I've been told, Cohen--who is also the company's bookkeeper--recently informed Marque that the company was still not profitable and that's where the troubles began.
Marque makes his home in Seattle and travels here once a month to shoot the shows. Cohen has been permanently stationed at the company's Chatsworth offices.
Industry insiders find it almost impossible to believe that this company is not profitable. Their lines are successful, they have the cable and foreign sales, there's virtually no fat in the organization, yet how does it fail to make money?
Cohen wants to buy out Marque's half of Dane and I'm told he can afford to do so.
Industry vet Chuck Martino, who has been the producer on most of Dane's productions for years, tells me he thinks Cohen is "...mentally unstable and taking medication." He tells me that Cohen believes he (Cohen) "...does nearly everything, while Marque does virtually nothing." Chuck went on to say, "I'm not ready to call anyone a thief, but I've been in this business a long time and something's definitely rotten here."
What's wrong with this picture? My guess is plenty.
