FLASHMAN CALLED -- I ANSWERED

 jimmyd _writes "My phone rang this morning and I picked it up and practically before I had a chance to say "Hello," the person on the other end was about 7 paragraphs into whatever it was he was saying. I'm not sure what was said in the beginning of this convo because I was mostly listening--well, not really listening, more like figuring, i.e., trying to figure who I was speaking with.
Finally the guy takes a breather and I took a stab at who it was: "Is this Flashman?" I ask.
He says "Yes," and it's at least another 7 or 8 more paragraphs of him going on before I get to say anything.
So let me capsulize the conversation-- Flashman is a self-admitted pimp, which I have no problem in the least with since what I do for living ain't exactly on a par with what, say... Mother Theresa does, or did I guess. Flashman seems like a pretty good guy, and the truth is I never meant anything personal, I simply found him amusing in an overblown, overhyped, oversaturated with self-importance sort of way. And you know what? What the fuck's wrong with that? If you don't toot your own horn, someone's gonna use it as a spitoon.
Truth is, Flashman is exactly the kind of guy I wish there were more of in the jizz bizz. Why? Because they're easy marks when I need something--anything--to write about.
Flashman-- Keep doing what you do, dude. Keep dressing like Elton John. Keep filling those pages at setgo with self-important hype. I love it. And if nothing else, when I find myself at the bottom of the writing barrel, I'll always have you!
