Wow! Not since Franklin D. Roosevelt wheeled himself into the White House has a wheelchair-bound political contender mustered so much publicity!

I guess Larry and the Borg are serious about this California governor thing. According to AVN, Larry’s campaign slogan bills him as the “smut-peddler who cares.” Of course, no one’s saying just what it is Larry truly cares about. And if my decade in the porn biz has taught me anything, its taught me that there’s one thing smut-peddlers universally care about above all else-- making money. But who knows? Maybe Larry’s cut from a different cloth than the rest of his contemporaries. Maybe Larry’s a man who truly cares about people; people other than himself that is.

Larry’s platform seems to be about expanding legal gambling, legalizing prostitution, putting a halt to illegal immigration and improving education. And although Larry owns a casino and is a gambler himself--which might (ya think?) have something to do with his intent to expand legal gambling in California as well as fulfilling the universal smut-peddler’s aspiration for making money--I agree with him on the issues of legalized prostitution, halting illegal immigration, and improving education.

While Flynt claims his name is better known than Coca-Cola, which I kinda fucking doubt, he does have a fair amount of name-recognition. And since many people vote for the only name they ever heard of while in the ballot booth, there’s a chance Mr. Flynt might actually do well with a fair share of the voting populace. When you combine that with the fact that our next governor might get into office with 10% of the vote or less, there’s actually a chance he might win.

And now that I’ve convinced myself that there’s at least a remote chance Larry Flynt could be California’s next governor, I want to know where he stands (or, uhmmm, sits) on just about everything.
