Tommy Chong's pleas for leniency went up in smoke today when a federal judge in The People's Republic of Pennsylvania sentenced him to 9 months in prison and fined him $20,000 for selling bongs on the internet. (Bongs! Oh the horror!)

I'm thinking it ain't a coincidence that the Feds decided to prosecute Tommy Chong in Pittsburg, Pennsyvlania, and likewise, are prosecuting Rob Black and Lizzy Borden there as well.

Pennsylvanians should be outraged that their state--the home of the Liberty Bell and the state where the Declaration of Independence was signed--has been chosen by Ashcroft's jack-booted prosecutors as the "in" place to strip Americans of their liberties by conducting these out-of-touch-with-America, bullshit, right-wing, prosecutions.

Seems to me Salem, Massachusetts would be a more appropriate venue for these trials.

A JIMMYD HISTORY LESSON: German immigrants once represented over 25% of the population of Pennsylvania. The term "Pennsylvania Dutch" is actually a misnomer. Originally, it was "Pennsylvania Deutch" (refering to the State's many German settlers), but later "Deutch" became bastardized into "Dutch."

Please Note: I would like to state for the record that my little history lesson is not meant to draw any sort of connection between Pennsylvania's many German-immigrant descendants, Nazi Germany, and the Federal Government's decision to conduct prosecutions against Tommy Chong, Rob Black, and Lizzy Borden within the borders of the historic State of Pennsylvania. I simply thought it was an interesting bit of trivia to share. Let me also state that I firmly believe it is mere coincidence that Pennsylvania is home to so many people of German ancestry, that the sovereign nation known as Germany is also infamous for its Nazi past and the Nazi's record of genocide as well that political party's proven trampling of so many of its citizens human rights, and that the U.S. Federal Government has chosen Pennsylvania as the venue for these prosecutions.

If you believe otherwise, may I recommend one of Tommy Chong's "NIce Dreams" brand bongs for a truly memorable, enjoyable, and smoother smoke... I'm talking about tobacco, of course.
