THE MIKE SOUTH, WANKUS, AND KEVIN MOORE SHOW :: Simply Jimmy D :: Breakin' News or Breakin' Balls: It's all the same to me!

jimmyd _writes "I woulda kept my trap shut on this one, but since my name got dragged into it—albeit merely as a side-comment by one of the contestants in this latest little porn tempest—I guess I’ll put my two cents in.

I’m talking about the mini-bru-ha-ha that’s evolved out of the “everyone pays to get into the KSEX awards show even if you’re covering it for the porn press” rule and the subsequent war-of-words between Mike South (MikeSouth.com) and Wankus (AdultFYI.com and KSEXRadio.com).

Here’s what happened according to what I’ve heard. Wankus decided everyone would have to pay regardless of why they were there or who they were representing. Hey! It was his party so I guess that would be his call, right? I assume this didn’t include award nominees, but ya never know… I doubt KSEX Radio generates all that much advertiser revenue so it’s possible everyone had to pay…. everyone meaning everyone.

So along comes Kevin Moore (StunningCurves.com) who shows up allegedly representing AVN and gets told he needs to cough up some dough. Now Kevin’s a nice kid. I've known him a while. He's pretty harmless from what I've seen although I hear he’s seriously sexually demented--but so are a lot of you! Big deal, right? Anyway, Kevin gets told he has to reach in his pocket regardless of who he’s there for. So Kevin decided to decline Wankus’ kind invitation to contribute to the KSEX charity fund, and instead, decided to bail.

Now here’s where my name comes into it: Mike South writes some stuff on his site in response to an email Kevin sent to Mike regarding this oh-so-important misunderstanding, “Kevin, yer a magnanimous fellow. Had it been me I wouldn't be quite so kind about it, and imagine what JimmyD would have done...hell he went nutz over being denied a press pass to internext, I ain't tellin him I got em...”

So I’m sitting here trying to imagine—as Mike tries to imagine—what indeed *I* would have done had it been me being told by Wankus to reach for my wallet. And let’s get something straight: I didn’t go “nutz” because AVN denied me press credentials for Internext. I merely used the opportunity to write an essay on the importance (or lack of importance) and meaning (or lack of meaning) of RULES in the jizz biz. That ain’t going “nutz;” that’s simply a writer writing about something that interests him based on personal experience. And just so ya know, I don’t have a problem in the freakin' world with AVN or anyone at AVN. And further, now that I’ve utilized the unique opportunity AVN afforded me to write about something that I think matters, I’m confident everything will be okay as far as my attending Internext goes, regardless of the capacity in which I attend the event.

But that’s another matter. Right now I'm writing about Wankus and South and Kevin Moore and here’s how I see it:

Wankus made a rule and stuck to his rule. Like I said, it was his party. And even though I have my own opinion about rules in this business (which you can read about in an article a couple of articles before this one). I believe Wankus can make his own rules regardless of whether I or anyone else thinks they're kind of fucked up. And I ain't saying Wankus' rules are fucked up, I'm only saying some people--maybe even including me or maybe not--might think they are. Now Kevin Moore, on the other hand, made a decision based on Wankus' rules that was his to make and he acted on it. That was Kevin’s business... maybe Kevin has opinions about rules in the jizz biz that are similar to mine. And then Mike South stuck his nose into the whole thing, got some of his facts wrong, got called on it by Wankus, and now says something to effect that it was no big deal plus everyone makes mistakes sometimes.

I guess I’ll buy that. It certainly was no big deal. I mean, c'mon... the KSEX Awards??? Plus Mike lives about three-thousand miles away from most of the stories he covers. He’s bound to get shit wrong-- he’s bound to get it wrong on a regular basis. In fact, it’s a wonder he ever gets anything right.

But I’m not writing this shit to bag on Mike or queston the wisdom of Wankus. I’m writing this to answer the question, “Imagine what JimmyD would have done?”

Now since it’s after-the-fact and since I didn’t actually go, it would be easy for me to lay claim to almost any response on my part. I could say I would have told Wankus to go fuck himself and shove his bullshit little awards party up his internet DJ’ing asshole. I could say I would have said nothing and gone back to my computer and written up a completely fictitious account of the KSEX Awards show and bagged the fuck out of it. I could even say I would have simply ignored Wankus’ payola demand and crashed the fucking door. But the truth is, I probably would have coughed up the lousy twenty bucks or whatever it was, gone in, took some digital stills, and then made some humor about it (at the expense of as many of the attendee’s as possible) on my site. Cuz, you know, that's how I am.

So there ya go. Happy Mike? That answer it for ya?

Oh, and Wankus, if I might be so bold to make a small observation: yer beginning to sound like a senior White House official trying to explain off the latest Bush Bullshit. Chill out, man. It’s all good. It ain't global politics... It’s fucking porn for Chrissakes!
