jimmyd _writes "For me, when I’m sporadic about updating this site, it’s a good thing: It means I’m working a lot, i.e., making money. After all, making money is what being in porn is all about; at least for the vast majority of us, certainly for all those who toil behind the cameras.

That's right! Make no mistake about it… this is purely and simply about making money in spite of what anyone tells you.

Whenever I hear someone saying otherwise—talking shit about doing this for just about any reason other than making money—I just shake my head and mutter to myself, “Nigger please.”

Here's a few common misconceptions about what working in porn is about, or I should say, what it's not about:

It's not about sex.

It's not about the freedom to excercise one's First Amendment rights.

It's not about art or satisfying one's creative urges.

It's not about fame or notoriety.

It's simply about money.

Sure, working in porn is sometimes fun and for double-sure it sometimes sucks. For the most part, it’s a fucking bore. Sorry if I’m bursting any bubbles amongst you non-porn folk, but that’s the truth. Often, its long hours of hard, repetitive, work: Porn sets aren’t parties. And there’s never a free-for-all orgy after the shoot where everyone jumps in-- cast and crew alike… Not even on Skeeter’s sets.

But on the brighter side, there’s almost always available employment for just about everyone who’s been accepted into this smut fraternity. And you don’t even have to be all that good at what you do to remain employed. And if you're willing to do what it takes (notice I didn't write, "have what it takes," at least in terms of skill, talent, and know-how), you can really "make it" in porn.

But be advised: Cream doesn’t automatically rise to the top in porn. It kicks and bites and claws its way there. Or it fucks its way there. Or, it lies, cheats, and steals its way there. Most assuredly, it does not simply rise.

For we all know—whether we consciously know it or not--that the “cream of porn” isn’t actually cream. It’s a cream substitute (probably powdered). There is no cream to begin with. There’s only would-be cream. And once at the top it still isn’t cream. It’s still a cream substitute. It just tries to pass itself off as genuine cream; in fact, it rarely misses an opportunity to advertise its cream qualities.

But as usual, I’m being cynical and getting off topic—assuming this post even has a topic—which I’m beginning to figure out it does not… have a topic that is.

Personally, I’ve never been willing to do what it takes to become porn cream. Which, I suppose, is why I’ve never made it to the top (in porn)… and most likely never will make it there. But it’s also why I can peacefully sleep at night; which is what I’m going to do right now… after I take another bong hit.
