Into Africa

Private’s Berth Milton is about to embark on an African odyssey by dirtbike! And it’s not just for the fun of it. Mr. Milton will be helping fight AIDS and working to promote equality amongst women in Africa. We don’t see enough dedication to social issues in the porn biz and my hat is off to Mr. Milton for his efforts.

Here’s the press release from the very cute Ms. April Storm:

Berth Milton, CEO & Chairman of Private Media Group, has his engine revving as he prepares to set off this weekend on the first stage of his African odyssey over the Atlas Mountains and through the Sahara desert on a two wheeled off road tour. While on the tour Mr. Milton will devote his time to assisting Zemtex Medical’s DRIVE FOR AFRICA to stop the spread of AIDS and to promote equal rights for women.

He leaves Barcelona tomorrow on this 16 day, off road, adventure bike tour which started as a couple of friends chatting over a beer and that has mushroomed into an enormous charity drive which will see Berth Milton personally delivering donations to medical centres along the route through North Africa. Mr. Milton’s Drive into the heart of Africa has now become a test run in preparation for a much longer charitable trip that is being planned for next year that should take him across the entire African continent.

Follow Berth by visiting his new website at where there will be a daily blog, videos and pictures from his trip. There will also be a link for individuals and companies to make pledges towards the eradication of AIDS.

News from “Women in Adult”

I’m not big on posting press releases but I’m making an exception with this one because, well, because without women in adult I don’t have a job. So, here’s the news from “Women in Adult” brought to you by some women in adult… and I’m not even screwing around with it. I’m posting it just the way they sent it: Same font, same bold type in places, same everything.

XBIZ Acquires WIA, Relaunches Website

(LOS ANGELES) – More than three years since its inception by business consultant Holly Moss, Women in Adult (WIA) has changed hands and now will be managed by media company XBIZ, parent company of and trade magazines XBIZ World and XBIZ Video.

XBIZ will oversee management of the website,, as well as related functions and events supporting women in the industry.

WIA was founded on the premise of empowering women in the adult industry with business development opportunities, as well as providing a forum where industry women can speak their minds freely and build strategic alliances with one another.

“I have tremendous respect for women in the adult industry, especially those who have overcome great challenges in order to achieve their success,” company President Alec Helmy said. “XBIZ has always supported WIA’s core mission of empowering, inspiring, and supporting women in the adult entertainment industry. XBIZ is very proud to be involved in shaping the future of WIA.”

The revamped website, which launched today, features Woman of the Month profiles, industry news, events calendar and a discussion board.

“This is a great opportunity to bring women from all areas of the industry together to network, socialize and inspire one another,” XBIZ Sales Manager Kristen Kaye said.

“It is an exciting time for women in the adult industry,” said XBIZ Director of Public Relations, Dusty Marie. “What a wonderful and advantageous prospect for the growing number of women to network, advise and support one another. The strong backing of XBIZ provides the stability and resources WIA needs. The teaming of XBIZ and WIA is an ideal pairing.”

Mullen’s Mega-Bash

I wasn’t able to attend Jeff Mullen’s, brought to you by All Media Play, shindig this past Saturday night. Life got in the way and stymied me. (Yes, believe it or not, I have a life outside porn. Maybe some of you do too?)

That’s two strikes against me in two weeks missing two parties. First, just last week or so, my life got in the way of attending Adella’s DP party and now, this past Saturday, that fickle life of mine did it again! They say things come in threes– I’m already wondering whose party I’ll miss next.

Of course, not attending doesn’t stop me from reporting as… well, let’s just say I’ve got some secret surrogates and porn proxies who fill me in on this kind of stuff. Sort of like Mike South has, only Mike’s touts are three-thousand miles from him and mine are like right around the corner so to speak.

From what I’ve been told, Mullen’s soiree got a little rowdy. I suppose that might have something to do with the venue: A shooting stage instead of a nightclub. Perhaps some people felt there wasn’t much in the way of security to worry about. I’m sure that wasn’t the case but then there are people in this biz who, again believe it or not, ain’t known for their logic and reckoning skills. Who would’a thought?

Anyway, other than a few interesting moments courtesy of drunk drama-seekers and others forgetting they were there to simply enjoy the comraderie of their fellow porn folks, I hear a pretty damn good time was had by all. I don’t know if Mullen gave out any of those press kits South was carrying on about on his site today, I didn’t get one in the mail like South did but then, who the fuck am I? Just some poor freakin’ pornographer slavin’ away in the cotton fields of adult entertainment.

Thanks for the invite, Jeff! Hopefully, my unpredicatable life will permit me to, once again, get out to one of your famously-fun bashes.

Possessing Porn a Parole Violation?

From Family News in Focus: Ohio- A family group in Ohio is introducing legislation that makes possession of pornography a parole violation for sex offenders. Phil Burress with Citizens for Community Values thinks sex offenders having hardcore pornography is a bad idea.

Hey Phil! Whether or not sex offenders possessing harcdcore porn is a bad idea — no, make that a violation that would send someone back to prison — is an idea better left to parole officers, psychiatrists, and those sorts of people on a case-to-case basis. Sheesh! WTF is going on in this country? Once again, the Right is attempting to regulate morality, at least their ideas of morality, and it continues to get out of hand.

Should paroled murderers become parole violators for possession of ANYTHING that could, conceivably, kill? That includes a whole lot of things from kitchen knives to household cleaning solutions to garden tools and automobiles, not just guns or weapons.

Should paroled burglars become parole violators for possession of anything that could, conceivably, help them burgle? (e.g., screwdrivers and other common, household tools.)

How about paroled embezzlers and those convicted and paroled of cyber-fraud? Do we make them parole violators for possession of computers or an internet access account? Would they be parole violators for even obtaining employment that could, possibly, put them in a position to embezzle or commit fraud?

I’m not even getting into the argument of whether or not porn incites sex crimes or whether it might, for many people, actually provide a sexual outlet that deters sex crimes.

Here’s some 411 for ya, Phill: Media that is meant to be provocative and sexy and appeal to people’s sexual libidos isn’t limited to porn. Look around dude. What do you see? Sex is everywhere. Why? Sex sells! Should paroled sex offenders become parole violators for possession of a copy of Playboy? How about a copy of Cosmopolitan? There’s plenty of sexually enticing images amongst the pages of Cosmo.

Phil: You can’t regulate everything! Besides, your motives are so transparent they’re insulting to most people’s intelligence.

Pterodactyl Gang Bang

Just when you thought porn continues to go where its already gone before, someone decided to shoot a blonde having primal sex with three, man-sized, dinosaurs while a young Jurassic critter looks on. I’m thinking Jim Powers maybe?

Come to think of it, this probably has been done before. But it’s still freakin’ funny. Out of curiosity, who gets off on this stuff?

Pterodactyl Gang Bang

And if you’re looking for something sorta funny but of a more mainstream nature–not that porn isn’t getting very mainstream these days, what with dinosaurs and pirates and all–check out this video-taped practical joke played on some people in a mall.

9/11 Plus 5

Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of 9/11. Unless you live in a cave or under a rock, how could you not know that? Every media outlet was all over it. But if there was just one 9/11-plus-5 commentary you should know about, it was the commentary delivered by MSNBC’s, Keith Olbermann. Keith didn’t rehash who was responsible for 9/11, instead, he spoke of the irresponsible and self-serving conduct of our leaders who have spent the last five years spinning 9/11.

If you read or watch one 9/11 commentary–and I think you should do both–this is the one to read and hear and watch.

Playing with Jayna Oso

I shot Jayna Oso yesterday for Anarchy’s top-selling, interactive, Playing with… series. To call this series “top-selling” is not a bit of PR BS. It is what it is and I’ve directed and shot about thirty or more volumes of this series over the past few years.

Although she’s been around for a few years, it was my first time meeting and shooting Jayna. All I can say is Jayna rocks! She gives a kick-ass scene and she’s a lot of fun on the set. No Diva crap with Jayna: She arrived on time and was the shit all day. A typical production day for this series is 10 hours–we shoot a lot of content for it–and throughout the day, Jayna gave it her all.

I usually spend 3-4 hours shooting the pretty girl stills for this series. It’s the part I love doing best. I generally shoot three different outfits and I like to shake up the photo sets for each, sometimes adding props or set-pieces and utilizing different backgrounds. In the image I’ve posted with this, I added a little production smoke just for grins.

After the stills, we usually have lunch then begin the video production. There’s quite a bit to shoot before the meatpuppet arrives. This series has a lot of content pressed onto the DVDs: A tease sequence plus two, separate solos, and then the hardcore which, in Playing with Jana Oso, includes multiple BJ positions, hand job, titty fucking, 3 “vag” positions and then multiple “A” positions with none of the “fucking” positions repeating themselves. Consumers get their money’s worth with this product and that’s a fact, Jack!

BTW, work’s been a bit lean this past summer. And, like everyone else, I got bills… plus my studio’s bills! So, anyone looking for a shooter–stills, video, or both–send me an email. I’m available on location or in and with my stage. I can be there with the latest gear–even Hi-Def if that’s what you need–and I do package rates for all of the above. Hey! I figure I should start pimping myself as long as I’m pimping my clients, right? Oh yeah, also included in my rates is some PR pimping via this site. (Assuming that’s worth anything.)

Here’s a behind-the-scenes shot from the photo portion of yesterday’s shoot cuz, I’m told, some people like checking out the behind-the-scenes stuff.

That’s a Fact, Jack!

I was reading and interview with director, Jack the Zipper, that Gene Ross posted from (whatever that is) and I was struck by a couple of things Mister Zipper was quoted as saying.

When the interviewer asked, “You have a very interesting way of shooting your movies, from different camera angles to very unique styles of lighting, what has been your inspiration?” JTZ responded, “Thanks…I’m drawing heavily from experiences, memory, and a lack of technical training.”

That kind of honesty, within the ranks of porn’s directors, is refreshing– Especially that last part about technical stuff. Mister Z should fare well in this industry. From a technical perspective, he fits in perfectly with so many of his peers and contemporaries.

But the thing JTZ said that I found particularly insightful was when he was asked about his perceptions of the jizz biz. Jack said: “…before I left New York for Los Angeles I imagined porn was like this new punk rock frontier or something, a wide open opportunity to express something inside a very wealthy and tolerant industry. Now I think its more like boxing, you hype a project to the hilt no matter how good or bad it is for maximum bang at the box office, then on to the next event.”

Amen to that, Jack. Or, as Bill Murray once said in that old comedy, Stripes: “That’s a fact, Jack!”

Yep, I’m with Jack on this one. There are few industries, besides porn, where so much over-the-top hype is heaped on crap that is so unworthy of said hype. I’m not coming down on porn, per se, but I think people sometimes forget what porn is: Masturbation fodder.

Considering the piles of press releases that go out daily, hyping the shit out of this fuck flick and that fuck flick, pretending that it’s all cutting edge and taking it to new levels and never seen before and oh so mainstream, well, it’s enough to make one vomit.

Who is kidding who here? I’ve rarely seen anyone make a porn flick that approaches some of mainstream’s cheeziest stuff when you compare things like producton value, special effects, or… perhaps most importantly, the acting. And I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. Porn is porn. It’s about sex. Well, it’s supposed to be about sex. And it’s supposed to cut right to the chase when it comes to things like sexually turning-on its audience: An audience overwhelmingly comprised of men who, as a rule, don’t take much to turn-on. (Until they become jaded and desensitized after watching way too much porn.)

Not only that, but where is most of this praising hype heaped? On the very same people who make porn. What’s with that? I don’t know about others who make this shit but I don’t buy porn. So why is so much of the hype heaped on me and others like me? Shouldn’t the hype go out directly to the consumers and the retailers?

Okay. I’m done being a curmudgeon. BTW, I could be wrong but, to comment on something else I recently read, I’m pretty sure Michael Ninn ain’t Zalman King. If he is, he’s gone the wrong way in his career. And to Jack the Zipper: I’ll be looking forward to seeing if your new flick for Vivid comes even close to achieving the level of “green screen” and CGI special effects seen in mainstream flicks like “Sky Captain” and “Sin City” as you (sort of) infered it might.

Jesus Camp

This is scarey. There’s a documentary film being released this month called Jesus Camp. It’s not the film, itself, that’s scarey, it’s the people the film examines who are… scarey, that is.

It doesn’t take a degree in history or sociology to understand that, throughout much of human history and, perhaps, today more than ever, religious fanaticism has been and is at the center of so many of the world’s problems. Not problems like global warming or the Bird Flu, but the sorts of problems that set people against people and nations against nations in terrible ways.

The trailer for Jesus Camp begins with a group of children pledging allegiance to the “Christian Flag…” From there, believe it or not, it gets scarier:

A woman, a Jesus Camp counselor I assume, tells the children, “There are two kinds of people in the world: Those who love Jesus and those who don’t.”

A young boy proudly says, “We’re being trained to be God’s army.”

A man states, “If the Evangelicals vote, they determine the election.”

Another man adds, “They’ve taken over the White House, Congress, the judiciary for a generation.”

Check out the Jesus Camp trailer HERE and be afraid. Be very afraid.

As Long as the Neo-Cons Have Fulfilled Godwin

I figure as long as the neo-cons have fulfilled Godwin’s Law, they’ve opened up the gates for the rest of us to join in. Okay. I’ll play. Here’s a quote:

Naturally the common people don’t want war… That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

I know it sounds like something Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, or Don Rumsfield might have said, possibly in private, but they did not. I’m confident, however, they’re aware of this quote and subscribe to the unfortunate (for us) truth that lies within it.

The person who spoke these words died over half a century ago: He was Hermann Göring, leading member of the Nazi Party, the Third Reich’s #2 man-in-command, commander of the Luftwaffe, and a guy who took his own life (with a potassium cyanide capsule) just hours before he was to be hanged for war crimes and crimes against humanity after his conviction at the Nuremberg Trials.

What? Only those White House guys can play the Godwin game?
